Penang trip

Well this was sometime back in December 07, after training the kids for nearly a month - the Penang International 6 a side was our next tournament destination.

Frankly, the coaches Wan, Iskhandar, Azhar, Shariman and Cikgu Kamal set at least a 2nd round target for the competition. (we went to through the 3rd round). But the real reason was to celebrate the players who had played and studied hard throughout the year in 2007.

Picture was taken in Jalan Duta Bus Station on the 13.12.2007, around 8.00am , posing are the players with some parents who came to wish the boys good luck and farewell. The R10 principal Pn. Hajjah Teh Zaiton bt Abdul Halim showed up even on a holiday to show here support and bid farewell to the players. Her spiritual speech before the departure enlightened and uplift the boys eagerness for success in Penang

We took off on Thursday, a day earlier from the competition which was schedule on Friday, 14.12.2007 - the boys stayed in a nearby army camp in Sg. Dua, Penang - thanks to our En. Iskhandar brother who helped us in the accommodation.

The kids was on the Tranasional bus express to Penang with Cikgu Kamal taking his own car tailing the bus. Iskandar, Azhar, Ameer and Shariman and me were on our own transport, Azhar left early that Thursday, 13.12.2007 morning to Penang to ensure he did not miss his Penang lunch at Line Clear Nasi Kandar.

Shariman and Ameer later convoyed together to Penang also got a speeding ticket, well Shariman had his way with cops - terlepas but Ameer ... kena saman..

Later that day, we all gathered at the USM Penang to check out the field b4 going to the Army Camp in Sg, Dua -escorted by an Army Land Rover. The kids were happy being place in the camp, adding that the camp was infront of Chinese cemetary,,,, the kids were scared in their pants .... Ha haha the coaches were laughing... We however stayed in Penang Holiday inn - fabulous place - great hospitality and a lot fun....

Well to cut short, we lost in the 3rd round, gave the kids a hell of a surprise by checking 16 kids into Holiday Inn - the were so excited they nearly dried the swimming pool... later on Saturday night - gave them a Chinese Dinner - with prawn and squids... unlimited rice .. and next day had sea and swimming pool activities before heading home on Sunday 16.12.2007 around 1.00pm

WE ARE BACK

These few months from Sept 07 to Dec 14 2007, was a wild one. We stopped training in Ramadhan in October 07 - the month where Muslim around the world practice the mandatory fasting. We stopped training giving the players some rest before starting training for the Penang International 6 - side tournament.

Iskandar, Kamal, Azhar and me had about 15 meetings to organize the players accommodations, fares, logistics and training schedule. We were all busy during the fasting month but ensured that we meet up regularly for the players readiness for the Penang competition.

INTRODUCTION

This blog was supposed to be up quite some time ago for the Hockey Boys of SK Wangsa Maju Zone R10. Kuala Lumpur.WP. Malaysia

I was very busy running things for my ICT Company and had very limited time to actually sit down and type the journey of these kids.

It has been a tremendous year of Hockey for the kids from ZR10, not mentioning a wild up and downs for these boys after many incidents that could have hampered their interest and spirit....for the lovely game of Hockey.

Its started in January 2007, when the current coach resigned due to unforeseen circumstances. The kids were left without a coach and the State tournament for the Under 12 Boys Hockey only 2 months away. The team had talent ranging from intermediate, good and excellent players.

The new hockey teacher Cikgu Kamal called for a teh tarik session with me (Wan Ameer), Iskhandar and Azhar all parents from the school with kids playing for the team. Oh Yes, i did not properly introduce myself, my name is Wan Ameer, Dad of 5 boys of which 3 of them are going to school at SK Wangsa Maju Zone R10. My sons that in ZR10 are Wan Adib Zahiruddin ( Std 6 - 2nd in the family ), Wan Haziq Hisyamuddin ( Std 3 - 3rd in the family), Wan Hariz Aizuddin ( Std 1 - 4th in the family) - currently all playing for the school team.

My 1st son Wan Ameer Naqiuddin is in Victoria Institution (Form 3 ) and the last and cutest is Wan Arif Faizuddin ( 2 years 3 months) has already started playing hockey in the house.... what a hitter ... already destroyed couple of chairs during inhouse training

back to the school team story.....
